This is a work I wanted to do for a long time and never have the right options. Now I think it's good enough to let it show. I made this in inspiration to Dany's work. And I dedicate this picture to in hope she will like it.
It's something between scifi and egypt mythologie. I'm a big fan from Stargate and so this combination is for me very usual. The cat is Bastet the godess of cats in old Egypt. She is the godess of joy, fertility etc.
I really like the warm colours you used. This whole piece reminds me of futuristic religions and idolatry especially with the repetition of the cosmic elements like the moon. It's a powerful artwork. Great work
I quite like the lighting in this piece. It's dark, but not so dark that I can't see anything. Bastet's form (or host) appears to be a ferenc fox, which is a nice choice, as it looks very feline, but isn't the image that comes to mind when I think "Bastet". I have only seen the Stargate movie, not the shows, but was thinking of it before I read the comments. The cross between scientific/futuristic/modern and ancient Egyptian and brings to mind Rick Riordan's newer series, The Kane Chronicles. Bastet plays the role of a guardian. I always enjoy looking at a deviation and being reminded of an unrelated book or movie. I feel that it shows just how convincing the artist's representation is, that it is strong and believable enough to trigger associations.
Purr.....fect!My nieces are traditional artists, colored pencils, ink drawing, photography and painting. Not being an artist or into computers, that's what I thought art was, sculpture, water color, oils, photography.Ever since seeing one of my nieces DA favs when I first joined DA, I have been entranced by this medium!I am drawn like a moth to the flame. You have such a beautiful rendition of ancient and futuristic elements here.I think "the Lord of Eternity" of Kem-Te(Egypt) would love this.
